Going rate for hourly service (teen) employees?

I do t know about retail but I worked at Chelsea piers summer camp when I was a teenager and made like $400/week in the early 2000s. It was an easy job and they picked me up from my house and I rode the bus in with the kids. Plus there was ice cream like almost every day.
Edit: I also made $20/hour babysitting back then. Tl;dr: childcare is where the money is at for teenagers
Edit edit: I also worked a year at a park slop based day camp, paid less, but was still better paying than what you’re saying here 20 years ago.
Hah you were probably my kid's counselor at that camp, assume the big one...!
Haha, those kids are all in their 20s now! Yes, the big one! Such a fun place.
For some reason this child has wanted to scoop ice cream since they were in elementary school. I'm not going to micromanage that even if most of their friends are doing snazzy internships at fancy startups this summer. ;-)
Now is the best time to make that dream come true!
